Rookie Card Definition
Must be a card (postcard, game cards, etc. are OK).  No pins, photo's or team cards
No Pre-Rookie, minor league cards, etc.

Pre-War: 1st card issued for the player;
Exception example: Christy Mathewson 1st cards issued:
E107 - 1903-04
1904 Allegheny
since it can't be proven that his E107 was distributed
before the 1904 Allegheny, either card is acceptable

Post-War: 1st mainstream card issued

Other notes:
All card issued after 1932 are graded by PSA
All cards issued prior to 1933 are graded by SGC
